Kate Middleton's Royal Wedding

Kate wore a beautiful Alexander McQueen creation by Sara Burton on Friday morning, the 29th of April. The soon to be wedded beauty kept everyone across the globe on her toes, wondering what her dress would look like. And when the day of the wedding arrived, admirers were not at all disappointed in what they saw.

The princess bride looked stunning in a long sleeve lace, ivory and satin gown with a flattering v-neckline and a 8 foot train. She also wore a simple laced veil with a sparkling tiara that the Queen herself lend her.

Kate asked for the dress to be a combination between modernity and tradition. And Sara Burton certainly did succeed in her task. The pleated skirt was made to resemble an "open flower" and the bodice drew inspiration from the Victorian tradition of corsetry. The open v-neckline and lace kept the dress looking traditional but still modern. (The bodice and skirt's lace was all handmade by the Royal School of Needlework).

This princess's dress definitely has come far from the day that the lovely Princess Diana wore her dress on the day of her wedding with Prince Charles in 1981.

Princess Di's wedding dress was designed by Elizabeth Emmanuel and her husband, David. She too have an ivory dress but Diana's was silk not satin. She had huge accentuated sleeves and an oversized veil with a whopping 25 foot train. At the time this dress was known to be one of the most beautiful pieces created.

Although Kate's dress was gorgeous many fashion experts could not help but spot the similarities it had to another dress worn by another Princes-to-be.

Movie star turned princess Grace Kelly wore a laced bodice dress with sleeves very similar to Kate's back in 1956 when she married Prince Rainer of Monaco. Even the veils are very similar to each other. There are many speculations on who had the better dress now but I think Kate definitely held her own in that contest. Regardless of what might be said Kate looked radiant in a dress that was properly suited for the England's next Queen in line to the throne.

Rihanna and The Little Mermaid

It has been speculated that songstress, Rihanna, has been looking a bit like Ariel from the Little Mermaid lately with that vibrant red hair she changed it to a few months ago. But it was because of that daring change that had the people from Vogue wanting to channel the sea princess character in their April issue. Ana Wintour and her team worked out a spread to have Rihanna on the cover resembling everyones favorite little mermaid. And Rihanna looks absolutely fabulous in a floral number from Chanel's 2011 Pre-Fall collection. The pictures were shot in front of a beach which was totally appropriate for this theme. And the translucent dress also adds a bit of innocence and sex appeal like the character Ariel who was infamous for it.

When Rihanna tried to pull this look off on her own she started to look a little more cartoonish then high end glam.

PROM

Prom season is right around the corner ladies! And what's more important for a high school girl on this night? One thing. The dress, of course. Once a girl has the perfect dress picked out for her then it's all down hill from there.

But the real issue for many girls of course is, "What dress is right for me?"
With so many options and alternatives it's hard to narrow a girls choice to one perfect dress. Here are a few things to think about when picking out your dress: short or long? The color? Strapless, halter, or strappy?
Ask yourself if the color looks good with your skin tone? Or if the shape is flattering to the shape of your body?

Skintones can be categories in two categories, light or dark tones.

People with light or pale skin have either pink, olive, or even blue undertones. A good choice of color would be white black, navy blue, red, and even an eye-popping pink.

Pastel colors also look very nice and elegant on people with a lighter complexion. Like lavender, plum, rose-brown, and soft yellows, blues, and pinks.

Print dresses can be worn by any girl of any color. A print dress with dramatic and strong colors looks great on girls with a darker complexion but a girl with a lighter tone can also wear it with a simple elegance.

If you are not one for prints and are a girl with a darker skin tone consider colors like beige, orange, gold, dark brown, peach, golden yellow, white, camel. These colors would look great on you because you normally have a golden undertone to your skin color.

Shape, everyone has things they don't like about their body. When looking for your dress make sure that the dress can cover the flaws you are now comfortable with. It's all about accentuating the positive and minimizing the negative.

Triangle Shape
These are girls with wider waists and smaller shoulders. They typically have a lower half that is fuller than the upper. Try picking a dress that will make your shoulders look wider and your hips looking smaller that way they seem to be evening each other out.

Key thing for this girl is to pick a fitted prom dress. Don't wear anythong that is loose or too big because it will just make you look sloppy.

Apple Shape
These ladies have a pretty average bust size and wide hips with thin legs. Some women with apple shaped bodies can also have flat behinds, narrow hips, or wide shoulders. These girls should focus mainly on their arms, legs, and bust. they should minimize their waist size.

Choose a dress that have ruching, knotting, or pleating details on the top. Or pick a dress with a v-neck, sweetheart neckline. Both these accentuate the chest area more and draws less attention from the tummy area. Any dress that hits above the knees will help emphasized the length of your legs.

Hourglass Shape
This girl generally has a pretty large bust and hips with a smaller waist. To flatter this shape you have to think in porportion. make sure that the gress you pick highlight both your chest and hip areas. A dress that defines and hugs your waist well is a good pick.

My personal favorite dress this year is the high and low prom dress. This dress is very fun and playful with the short skirt in the front but is also elegant and timeless with the train in the back. It definitely is the best of both worlds and think any girl would look great wearing it.

Be careful thought girls when picking this dress. Don't pick a high low dress with a dress with an extra added piece of material as the train. Make sure it all flows smoothly together.

Good Luck Ladies!!!!

Accessories

The secret to accessorizing correctly is knowing what to put with them. The way you style your hair, the right clothing, even how your makeup is done are all main components to accentuate your accessories. If done so correctly your wardrobe will have an effect that will be very pleasing to the eye.

My personal favorite look is very simple. Less is more here. If you have a shirt with a deep round neckline a smart choice accessory would be a short necklace that I personally think adds an extra pop for attention. It’s also nice to hype up the look with a ring. Size here doesn’t particularly matter because your other accessories won’t outshine your ring. To complete the look it’s nice to add in some earrings. Preferably studs with a good sparkle so they can be noticed but not overwhelming. If you want you could wear a small dangly instead for a bit more of the dramatic effect.

If you are the type of person who loves those big oversized earrings then a halter top is the best choice to complete your look. Make sure to tie your hair back either all the way back or just half if you don’t feel like exposing too much skin. The hair tied back helps emphasize the appearance of your earrings. Don’t wear a necklace with this look. It’s better to keep your skin bare for a more elegant feel. I recommend doing the same to your makeup. Stick to simple color tones but you can add in a hint of color above the eyelid to match the color of your wardrobe. But make sure it’s very subtle. Your earrings give enough attention to your face so heavy make-up is not necessary.

Shoes are a ladies most expensive and favorite accessory. Chunky platforms are becoming a must have this season. It’s hard picking the right outfit with this shoe but truth is it can be worn with almost everything. If you wear a short dress its best to wear these heals because they highlight your legs making them look longer and leaner. These shoes also look great with a pair of rolled up jeans. It’s a very modern and simple look but the shoes standout very nicely and gracefully. A loose shirt is great with this look to keep the attention on the shoes. If you want you could wear a semi long chain for a little bit of edge.

An outfit can be a very easy thing to put together if done with the right essentials. It is best to keep the attention on one specific acccessory then having three or four that could be straining to the eye. The other accessories should compliment the one you want people to focus on. Make sure these accessories are subtle and elegant. You will have a very stunning look if you remember to keep your hair-style, clothing, and makeup in check when you accessorize your outfit.

How to Wearing the Proper Handbag

Handbags are a girl’s favorite daily accessory. But most often a girl has trouble picking the right handbag for the right outfit. It is important to pay attention to the size and comfort of your handbag to get that perfect look to complete your look.

It is always a good idea to color coordinate your purse with your outfit. This is not always necessary because mismatching can also add an interesting look to your style. But just to be on the safe side make sure that your handbag matches the other accessories that you’ve picked out for the day. If you’re wearing red heals and red pendent the obvious purse color you would go with is a red handbag.

Usually picking comfort over style is not particularly the smartest choice but in this case it is highly recommended. If a handbag is weighing you down no matter how you wear it is probably not the best look for you. An oversized purse is great to have to store all necessities at your finger tips but sometimes big can too big. If you walk in a room and notice that your bag sticks out more than you do then it is probably best to downsize your bag. It is all about proportion. Make sure all your accessories complement each other, not overshadow.

A handbag is a must for a girl to go through her day calmly. It is important to remember key things when picking out the right handbag: length, color, and size. If you have all of these matched up correctly then you've selected the right handbag for yourself.
